This topic came out of our October sessions on pensions [1] but the information is applicable to anyone leaving the Commission [2] whether that’s at the end of a contract [3], to retire [4] or for several other reasons [2]. According to your circumstances, you might need access to the IT systems to submit medical costs, to get certificates or to manage the EU unemployment allowance [5][1].
Please check out how this is supposed to work [6] and add it to your checklist: this should ideally be set up and confirmed working before you leave. Please don’t miss out on what you’re entitled to!
We encourage you to check out JSIS membership [7] and how different situations can affect cover. Look also at the extension of JSIS cover [7].
Generation 2004 encourages you to know what you are entitled to and make full use of the available options: don’t miss out on your rights!
As always, we would love to hear from you. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us [8] or leave a comment below.
If you appreciate our work, please consider becoming a member of Generation 2004 [9].
[1] Leave on personal grounds (‘CCP [10]‘), while not an end of service has a lot in common with it. You will have to return all equipment and lose access to your accounts [11], and request external JSIS access [12]. If you are looking for a couple of months of leave without potentially losing access or health insurance then time credit leave [13] may be more suitable. Check out your options!
