The social dialogue [1] is a procedure, through which general implementing procedures affecting staff are decided in the Commission. It should not be confused however, with the staff representation, who is responsible to control and verify that adopted rules are followed by the administration.
The social dialogue plays a vital role in ensuring the European civil service remains competent, independent and permanent. It is therefore a very important procedure that affects the Commission’s human resources management.
During social dialogue meetings, the Commission administration discusses legal texts with the representative unions and professional staff organisations.
Generation 2004 is regularly involved in these dialogues and negotiations on significant issues such as harassment, absence during sickness, conditions of the local staff in the EU delegations, working arrangements during the COVID-19 crisis, etc.
Currently ongoing social dialogues
- Harassment
- Serious illness
- Medical absences
- Local agent conditions in EU delegations
- Temporary staff conditions
- Transfer of pension rights
- Working arrangements during the COVID-19 crisis
We plan to regularly update you on the discussions and decisions taken on the above mentioned topics and to show transparently, what were the positions of Generation 2004.
Do you have any expertise or issues to raise on subjects debated within the framework of social dialogues? Then we invite you to have your say [2] on matters that affect you at work and help Generation 2004 be part of the internal change that we can bring from bottom-up as employees.
