We are pleased to hear that the Joint Sickness Insurance Scheme (JSIS) has rectified its recent mistake relating to the Netherlands standard-postnatal-maternity-care-package (Kraamzorg [1]) costs. This is indeed a reimbursable cost and the corresponding MyIntracomm site [2] has been updated. This unexpected (and erroneous) change took many recent parents by surprise (especially those who had already had these costs reimbursed for a previous child) and added to their already-understandable list of concerns and worries. We firmly believe that examples such as this show where a ‘live human contact would help reduce the number of back-and-forth exchanges generated by a poor understanding of the needs of colleagues. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then we could also say that a phone conversation is worth a thousand emails.’ (A S.M.A.R.T. Manifesto For A Smart Commission [3])
Nevertheless we are still encountering cases where these costs are not being reimbursed: check your payslip, if this affects you, please get in touch [4]!
Update 21.11.2024: check also A national-insurance card for colleagues in the Netherlands [5] and updates.
