EU Delegation restructuring: Have your say & sign now!

Generation 2004, together with US, TAO, R&D [1], is inviting all delegation colleagues to sign the petition addressed to High representative/Vice-President Kaja Kallas [2] and Commissioner Síkela [3] to pause the restructuring of EU Delegations until a full consultation with the staff representation takes place.

Why You Should Sign:

The proposed restructuring, which includes going from the over 144 Delegations [4] around the world currently to the creation of 18 Regional Hubs [5], each led by a Head of Unit, raises significant concerns, including:

  1. Severe Impact on Staff: A large number of Local Agents [6]’ contracts will be terminated, and expatriate staff will be redeployed either to HQ or other countries.
  2. Deterioration of Efficiency and Effectiveness: The EU’s ability to respond to international crises, maintain strong relationships with partner countries, and manage technical cooperation projects will be severely affected.
  3. Cost Implications: The establishment of 18 new Head of Unit positions will significantly increase operational costs.
