Generation 2004 [1] is 10 years old! What started with a petition in 2011 [2] is, since at least 2020, the largest single trade union or staff association [3] (OSP) in the Commission. Thank you for the trust you have placed in us with your engagement and with your votes! You have given us the encouragement, support and energy to be your voice and to raise your issues in all possible discussions and domains. We could not have come this far without you and we appreciate your input, examples and ideas on how to make the European public service fair, just and motivating. Our mission [4] remains unchanged, we’re here for you!

Create a modern and unified EU public service that applies internally the same principles it imposes on EU member states, including the non-discriminatory recognition of both internal and external professional experience.

Improve HR management in particular by enforcing equal professional and career prospects for all staff, following the principle of ‘equal recognition for equal work’.

Contribute to the design of any future project of reform of the staff regulations, ensuring that the lessons learnt [5] from the 2004- and 2014-reforms are taken into account.
Generation 2004 has come a long way from our first elections (Brussels, 2012 [6], 6 out of 27 seats) to the last elections (Luxembourg, 2022 [7], 6 out of 20 seats together with most voted candidate pairing and most voted OSP). Generation 2004 is now present in 7 of the 8 local staff committees [8] and will participate for the first time now in the EEAS staff committee elections [9].
It’s been an adventure, we’ve learned a lot and we’re still doing our best!
