In an article published on 18 December 2020, we informed you about the reply to Generation 2004’s November note to Ms Weyand, Director-General of DG Trade, requesting clarification on their plans for an office-space reorganisation.
We welcomed this reply, however at Generation 2004 we are aware that the devil is often in the detail, and so we followed that up with an email to ask DG Trade the hard data: how many ASTs/AST-SCs and CAs are already sharing offices? How many are affected by the decision to move staff to shared offices?
Ms Weyand replied to this additional request providing the requested data. She stated that the proposed office-space reorganisation affects 69 staff members out of 609 DG Trade staff in Brussels. Currently 163 ASTs and CAs already sharing offices, out of a total population of 191 ASTs and CAs in DG Trade.
Generation 2004 thanks Ms Weyand for her prompt reply to our questions and her open approach to this issue.
We will however remain vigilant in this case and in all other cases of office-space reorganisation – even moreso now that several reorganisations are happening in our absence: after almost one year of compulsory teleworking and empty offices.
We invite all colleagues from DG TRADE and all other DGs and services to contact us for any question or issue they might encounter with reorganisation or office-space changes.
As always, if you have questions or comments, feel free to contact us.
