Thank you message to the Petten supporters

Hereby, we would like to thank all voters who supported Generation 2004 in the elections to the LSC Petten, which took place 19-26 March 2026.
Moreover, we would like to thank all the Generation 2004 candidates for their committed engagement and sharing of ideas for Petten site.

The enthusiasm about the opportunity for change in the staff representation in Petten was strongly felt during the campaign. As Generation 2004 we supported appropriate staffing in Petten to maintain the viability of the site and suitable resources for the implementation and development of the work programme. We continued to push for the delivery of the new school in Alkmaar to the highest standards and in consultation with parents. We put forward proposals for tackling the difficulties encountered by staff in finding accommodations.
We are committed to discussing with the administration how to attract, retain and develop talent at JRC Petten. This includes fair recruitment; prior experience to be recognized; better promotion opportunities and reclassification for Contract Agents; better career opportunities and progression for all and equal pay for equal work.

Very high participation rate of 82% confirmed voters’ interest in such topics. Generation 2004 received a 19% of votes, however no couple was elected. Clearly the current electoral majoritarian system excludes 1/5 of voters from being represented which is contrary to democratic principles and values of the EU. In addition, the elections are still conducted via the paper voting, being one of the last sites having still solely paper vote.

We will continue our work and deliver quality staff representation services to the Petten colleagues.
