Following the publication of our article on the option to work 95% for family reasons last October, Generation 2004 is happy to announce that there has been positive progress made on this subject.
From now on a 5% working time reduction will be systematically granted upon request when any of the three conditions apply:
- an official/agent receives a double allowance for a dependent child under 14 due to disability
- an official/agent supports a child under 14 with a long-term illness.
- The spouse or recognised partner of a colleague with a dependent child under 14 passes away
There are also other circumstances under which the 95% part time work for full pay may be granted. For example, a divorce or separation, or when a spouse or recognised partner has been diagnosed with a serious health condition. For more information please read the interview with by DG HR Director Christian Roques and Head of Unit Koen Binon and consult the new guidelines for the implementation of the 95% part-time work formula without salary reduction.
