Thanks to all who voted! Historic success in EEAS and promising result in Petten

The Generation 2004 team thanks everyone who voted in all elections: we can do nothing without your participation! All OSPs now have over a year to dedicate our time exclusively to defending your rights before the next local staff committee elections in 2024: check out the issues we’re raising. A special thanks goes to everyone who voted for us! We give you a rundown here of the most recent elections:  the European External Action Service (EEAS)[1] and Petten Local Staff Committee, which both finished in March 2023.

EEAS staff committee

We are very happy and proud to have obtained an historic result. It is the first time that Generation 2004 participated in elections here and we managed to mobilise a substantial amount of voters in this institution within a short period of time.

In January 2023 Generation 2004 was officially recognised as a staff association in the EEAS: the official starting point of our activities there. Only two months later we obtained 21.13% of votes,  the second-most-voted list of the 5 available on the ballot paper! With this result we are now stronger than ever in the Delegations and a recognised new social player in the EEAS Headquarters. With our enthusiastic team in the EEAS we are looking forward to meeting the many challenges our electorate have given us the assignment to tackle. In the many meetings and discussions with our electorate over the last months it became clear that the staff representation in the EEAS needs some new impulses, initiatives and new and fresh energy to address the many problems colleagues face in their daily working lives.

Petten Local Staff Committee

In Petten we got 24.2% of the votes which is a remarkable result given the fact that mainly one OSP has dominated the staff representation in Petten over the last decade(s).

Very unfortunately, this excellent result did not translate into a strong position in the Petten local staff committee, given the particular electoral system of this site[2]. We are grateful to our candidates for their effort and we will keep on working to give colleagues based in Petten a more varied staff representation. We’re still here for you!

You can count on our devoted work in the next 3 years!

Congratulations to the elected Generation 2004 colleagues!

Thanks to our many candidates and supporters!

As always, we would love to hear from you. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us or leave a comment below.

If you appreciate our work, please consider becoming a member of Generation 2004.

[1] Not to be confused with the Outside the Union ‘local’ staff committee (CLP-HU) whose last elections were  concluded in December 2021.

[2] We are in favour of a standardisation of electoral rules across the Commission and in transparency in the ballot papers (also here).
