On 26 June, Generation 2004 held an online lunchtime meeting to update members on key staff issues, followed by a Q&A session.
The meeting focused on the Commission’s Large-Scale Review, with Generation 2004 stressing that any reforms must respect the staff regulations, protect careers and be based on genuine social dialogue.
Members also received updates on the sale of Commission buildings and the need for greater transparency regarding future relocations and office planning. The recent heatwave in Brussels prompted a discussion on working conditions, with Generation 2004 calling for clearer rules on teleworking and better protection for colleagues during periods of extreme heat.
The session also covered competitions, including the new AD7 internal competition, concerns about SHL cognitive tests, and ongoing efforts to improve career opportunities for all staff categories. Finally, participants were informed about the revision of the sick leave rules and recent initiatives to strengthen anti-harassment procedures.
The meeting concluded with an active exchange of questions and views, highlighting the importance of keeping members informed and involved in the issues that shape their working environment.
