Rhetoric to Reality: the role of the EU in delivering on the Paris commitments
Many colleagues have expressed concern to Generation 2004 about the problem of the large amount and use of non-recyclable plastic waste produced by the Commission, in particular from its events’ catering activities and related services (including canteens, cafetarias and catering services).
In only 4 months, over 10.000 colleagues in the EU institutions – including many of Generation 2004 members – have signed the EUstaff4climate petition calling on EU leaders to step up action on the planetary emergency. From 20 to 27 September millions of people around the world will take a stand on climate change with strikes and protests. As individuals and EU public servants, we have a double responsibility to act. Generation 2004 actively supports this initiative and our elected staff representatives, Piotr Rapacz, will intervene during Sunday’s event.
Bruxsel’air, a Brussels pro clean air group, is organizing a drink on the space currently blocked for works on Rue de la Loi on the 22nd of August. Ministers of the newly elected Brussels region government were invited and everyone’s presence is important to show that we need a proper clean air policy for our city.
