Following representations from Generation 2004, PMO has agreed to extend the transitional period for submitting reimbursement requests in MyCommuting. The decision will give affected colleagues more time to recover eligible commuting costs and brings a fairer approach for staff who were disadvantaged by the switch from Mobility.net to the new system.
Background
When MyCommuting replaced Mobility.net in November 2024, reimbursement requests had to be submitted within one year of the season ticket purchase date. PMO has now clarified that claims may instead be submitted within one year of the expiry date of the ticket.
Generation 2004 was contacted by colleagues whose claims had been refused, even though they had incurred significant costs for public transport season tickets, in some cases exceeding €1,000. In response, Generation 2004 wrote to Mr Christian Levasseur, Head of Service at PMO, to request a practical and equitable solution.
Claim deadline extended following staff feedback
As a transitional measure, PMO is now giving additional time to colleagues who purchased an eligible public transport ticket between 1 November 2024 and 31 October 2025 to submit their reimbursement request.
Generation 2004 welcomes this outcome. We believe, as a matter of principle, that if a cost was incurred it should be reimbursed, in line with the Commission policy of supporting employees’ commuting costs.
