This topic came out of our October sessions on pensions but the information is applicable to anyone leaving the Commission whether that’s at the end of a contract, to retire or for several other reasons. According to your circumstances, you might need access to the IT systems to submit medical costs, to get certificates or to manage the EU unemployment allowance[1].
Please check out how this is supposed to work and add it to your checklist: this should ideally be set up and confirmed working before you leave. Please don’t miss out on what you’re entitled to!
We encourage you to check out JSIS membership and how different situations can affect cover. Look also at the extension of JSIS cover.
Generation 2004 encourages you to know what you are entitled to and make full use of the available options: don’t miss out on your rights!
As always, we would love to hear from you. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us or leave a comment below.
If you appreciate our work, please consider becoming a member of Generation 2004.
[1] Leave on personal grounds (‘CCP‘), while not an end of service has a lot in common with it. You will have to return all equipment and lose access to your accounts, and request external JSIS access. If you are looking for a couple of months of leave without potentially losing access or health insurance then time credit leave may be more suitable. Check out your options!
