We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!

This is a very special moment for Generation 2004: we are celebrating not only our 10-year anniversary, but also our 6 seats in the Luxembourg local staff committee elections, Villmols merci, Luxembourg! We’re the youngest and biggest in the Commission as a whole. Thank you for placing your trust in us: we continue to raise your issues and fight on your side, even in this fast-changing, spontaneous and hybrid ‘new normal’, we are always here for you!

We continue to defend your rights and have worked hard to increase our capacities in order to serve you even better. Generation 2004 is the most active organisation and has made gains in all elections, not just in Brussels and Luxembourg: check out our hard-earned results! Thanks again to everyone involved and to everyone who voted!

We also carried out our everyday work: engaging with you in our ongoing petitions and surveys; sending over 50 notes to highlight issues on your behalf; organising and running multiple training events, info sessions, lunch events and coaching; publishing over 250 articles on our website and sending 17 newsletters, in addition to the many, many individual staff cases we have dealt with. We also prepared for and participated in more than 100 meetings in over 30 joint committees, dozens of staff committee board (‘bureau’) meetings and Staff Committee plenary sessions, in addition to dozens of social dialogues and info meetings (we are now preparing for those on the general guidelines to accompany the working time and hybrid working decision and on the New anti-harassment framework).

We remain vigilant to ensure that current events are not used as opportunities to further erode the rights and morale of EU staff. The gulf that currently exists between the pre and post 2004/2014 staff must not be repeated and enlarged in the future, this time widening the gap between those fortunate enough to be officials and those on fixed-term contracts.

We are doing all that we can as best we can and we thank you for your input, your unwavering support and your enthusiasm: we couldn’t do it without you!
