EEAS: Performance Appraisals Exercise for 2025

Friday, 24 January 2025, more than 60 colleagues joined Generation 2004 mini-conference during lunchtime to explore the topic of performance appraisals within the EEAS. The session provided valuable insights into the 2025 appraisal exercise, addressing both the written and unwritten rules of the Career Development Reviews (CDR).

The event featured four engaging speakers, including a Head of Sector from the institution and a colleague from European Commission – both previously participating into promotion committees. All our colleagues shared their expertise on the key steps in the appraisal process, self-assessment strategies, and the importance of effective dialogues with reporting officers. Participants appreciated the practical advice on aligning self-assessments with job objectives, highlighting achievements, and preparing for productive appraisal discussions. Our colleagues from EEAS also explained what is the timeline for this exercise and also what is meant by exceeding standards or even fail to meet standards.

We were pleased to note significant interest in the topic, evidenced not only by the lively participation during the event but also by numerous follow-up emails requesting additional support on preparing self-assessments.

For those unable to attend, we are making the presentation delivered during the session available here. We encourage everyone to review the materials and reach out to the Support Team at Rep-Pers-OSP-GENERATION-2004@eeas.europa.eu with any questions or requests for further assistance.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this event! Together, we are building a culture of transparency and excellence in career development.
